Last week has been crazy at work and there was more then a few items that caught my eye and mind last week in the public relations world. Here are a few of those things from the wired world:

Last month brought word that Kohnke Communications was going to sue Perpetual Entertainment over a canceled game. Now just over a month later, it seems the case is being dropped following a mutual resolution.
“The parties have reached an agreement, but we can’t detail any further than that. Part of the agreement was that we would not detail.”
I’m glad to see things come to an amicable end. However, next time I hope to see more of an online presence by the team at Kohnke. Hopefully they’ll also bring their company blog back.

Kohnke Communications has decide to sue Perpetual Entertainment over a canceled game, Gods & Heroes. Head over to Shacknews for the full report. I don’t know if the money they are going after is worth the court case, but I guess a win is a win. Plus it tells other “don’t fuck with me” when it comes to money.
Kohnke alleges that Perpetual owes it $10,675 in outstanding invoices, in addition to fees for its work promoting Gods & Heroes. Depending on the game’s success after launch, Kohnke would be entitled to a minimum of $70,000 and a maximum of $280,000. The complaint alleges that Kohnke’s work on promoting the game should entitle it to the maximum amount.
“Kohnke’s public relations campaign was successful in creating pre-release ‘buzz’ around Gods & Heroes, and in convincing reviewers to write positive reviews about the game,” the text reads. “Kohnke is also entitled to punitivie and/or exemplary damages due to P2, Keen and McKibbin’s conduct, which was fraudulent, oppressive, and with malice.”
None of the above quotes sound all to fantastic after the GameSpot & Gerstmann issue we just had. This doesn’t feel or sound like the most interesting case, but maybe that’s just because I’m not involved. However, what I did find interesting is that I can’t seem to find a link to their blog on their website anymore. They use to have one back in the summer and now it seems to have disappeared. This would be a good time to use it as a way to communicate their side as this gets blogged about around the globe. I hope they are following this online and commenting, because so far I’ve seen anyone from Kohnke comment anywhere. HURRY UP GUYS!.

The Gamerscore & Game Theory Podcasts are featuring their thoughts on the Gerstmann and GameSpot PR backlash surrounding their separation. I don’t know any more then anyone else, but being a PR person and seeing as this unfolded since the weekend has been crazy.
GameSpot & CNET should have come forward a lot sooner then the statement they released today. I don’t think anyone could have seen this coming from a mile away, but GameSpot & CNET should have been more reactive to the situation. Top three things not to do when you are in this situation.
- Don’t Lie or Fugde The Truth
- Don’t Assume Things Will Blow Over Soon Online
- Don’t Let The Community Take Control Of The Message
This should blow over soon, but not before the week is out I think.

Terra Nova is poundering what could be a change on the home page of Second Life. Not sure if it’s true, but if it is, this could start to be a bad PR week for Second Life.
